Course overview

Woodwork – Beginners / Intermediate 

This course is aimed at beginners with none, little or some experience of woodwork. 

The course will introduce you to basic stages of joinery, using tools, equipment and material safely while working on a small bespoke project. For intermediate level you may want to work on your own project with guidance. You will explore woodwork basics and different technique applications to build your confidence.  

By the end of the course you will have produced a personal item.

Materials needed for first lesson: Pencil and paper


Woodwork – Beginners 

This short course is suitable for those with none, little or no experience in woodwork. In this short introduction course, we will focus on using tools, equipment and material safely. 

Further modules cover joints, finishes, basic construction, and technique application. You will produce samples of techniques with instructions in a portfolio for future references. 

You will learn the basic stages of joinery for a basic project. Throughout the 6 weeks you will upcycle, repair or make a small bespoke project of your choice.

Woodwork - Intermediate  

This short course is suitable for those with little or some experience in woodwork. In this short course we will help you build and improve your woodwork skills. You will continue focusing on using tools, equipment and material safely. 

Further modules cover joints, finishes, basic construction, and technique application in more depth. You will continue to produce samples of techniques with instructions in a portfolio for future references. 

Throughout the 6 weeks you will upcycle, repair or make a small bespoke project of your choice.

Initial course resources / additional cost 

Some tools and equipment are available for your use at the centre. However, you may need to purchase some extra tools and materials for your particular art projects, this will be discussed with your tutor if required.

Course Overview

Performing Arts - Beginners / Intermediate

This course is aimed at Beginners / Intermediate with little or no experience with performing arts. 

This course will give learners the opportunity to explore different elements of Performing Arts such as dance/movement, music/singing and acting/drama in a safe environment. 

Learners will develop an understanding of how use their voice and body to express themselves and communicate effectively. While exploring different art forms we also search to identify any personal barriers to learning while focusing on the goal which is to increase confidence and self-worth. 

Materials needed for first lesson: All resources will be provided. Learners are encouraged to attend the lessons in clothing that are comfortable to move around in.

Social media for Beginners | Creating a YouTube channel

These courses aims to show people how to engage and confidently interact on a range of social media platforms and on YouTube. The course will guide you through the different types of social media platforms and show you how to use them safely to connect with people online.

You will learn how to create your own YouTube Channel while also developing the skills to successfully edit your videos for sharing on your channel or on other social media platforms.

By the end of these courses, you will be confident at creating your own social media accounts, edit and share videos and start to explore how to develop a career in social media. 

No previous experience is required.

Course Overview:

Hair & Beauty - Beginners

This course is aimed at beginners with little or no experience with hair and beauty. This course will give learners the opportunity to explore different elements of hair and beauty such as hair styles, plaits, hair up & makeup applications in a safe environment.

Learners will develop an understanding of how use products and materials to change appearance and hairstyles. While exploring different hairstyles we also search to identify any personal barriers to learning while focusing on the goal which is to increase confidence and self-worth while enjoying

Materials needed for first lesson: Some material will need to be purchased by the learners depending on learners skin requirements. It would be beneficial to bring a selection of make-up you currently use and discuss with your tutor what else you would need. Learners are encouraged to attend the lessons in clothing that are comfortable to move around in. Learners may want to experiment with their own products and hair accessories.

Course overviews 

Digital Photography - Beginners 

These courses are aimed at beginners with little or no experience with photography. The courses will introduce you to basic photography techniques, features on cameras and basic editing methods. 

You will be expected to work independently and engage in group tasks in order to develop your skills and knowledge. The course covers a range of techniques, skills, and an awareness of employment opportunities in the subject.  

It is hands-on practical courses with regular enrichment visits to develop your camera skills further.  

Materials needed for first lesson: Camera or phone with camera.


Photography – Beginners 

This course is aimed at beginners with little or no experience with photography. 

The course will introduce you to basic techniques how to take better images as well as learning how to use a camera and take creative control.  You will explore how photography can and does bring issues to the public: wildlife, environment and people.  

Materials needed for first lesson: Camera or phone with camera. 


Photography – Intermediate 

This course is aimed at learners who have completed a beginners course or have relevant experience with photography.  The course will aim to develop and further your camera skills. 

You will be expected to work independently and engage in group tasks in order to develop your skills and knowledge. The course covers a range of techniques, skills, and an introduction to different genres including architecture, landscape, close up, and portrait photography.  

Materials needed for first lesson: Camera or phone with camera. 


Image Editing using Lightroom and Photoshop 

This course is aimed at learners who has completed photography beginners and intermediate and/or have the relevant experience. This course aims to organise and enhance your images using image editing software. You will learn how to plan your image taking with post processing in mind.  

It is a hands-on practical course with research activities to consider both classic and current trends (including history, culture, diversity, online research techniques etc.):  

You will explore how photographic images can and do bring issues to the public: wildlife, environment and people.  

Materials needed for first lesson: Camera or phone with camera.
